Our goals include engaging in and promoting conversations about peer respites, Soteria houses, and other crisis alternatives and we’re excited to have a comments section available for our visitors. At the same time, it’s important to us that the comments, like the rest of our website, stay as safe as possible for the most people possible.
To encourage a safer and supportive environment, curse words and slurs may cause your comment to automatically be deleted or marked for moderation. Occasionally, some hurtful, hateful, or otherwise harmful comments may not be filtered out by the auto-moderator and may instead be removed by our comment moderators. Commenters may or may not be notified if their comment is held for moderation, removed, or deleted.
We may ban or block users from commenting if they repeatedly post spam, abuse, hate, or other comments that break the spirit of our website or this comment policy.
If you see a hateful, harmful, or otherwise inappropriate comment that we have missed and you feel should be removed, please send us a message with a link to the comment.
Authors, Moderators, and Impersonation
In most cases, comments by the post’s author will be marked with an ‘author’ flag beside their name. Administrators and moderators will have similar flags next to their names with either ‘admin’ or ‘mod’.
Any comments posted by someone suspected of impersonating another commenter (or administrators, moderators, and post authors) will be removed. If someone is impersonating you and we have not noticed, please contact us and we will look into the problem. Be sure to use the email address that you used to post your original comment so that we can verify your identity!
Deleting Your Own Comments
If you’ve left a comment on a blog post and would like it deleted, please contact us and we’ll take care of it. To verify your identity, please use the email address you used to post your comment; this is the only email address we will use to contact you for confirmation.
